ReMeeting at the doors of Silicon Valley: The Idiap start-up, winner of the ICC’2013, receives the Grand Prize of the UC Berkeley Startup Competition

In fall 2013, the project ReMeeting won one of the three principal awards of the International Create Challenge 2013, an accelerator program organized by the Idiap research institute within its Martigny premises. Now, the young Valaisan startup continues its successful run and confirms its great potential by finishing top of the startup competition of the prestigious Californian University of Berkeley.

Relegating its 200 competitors to the fringe, the international ReMeeting team has convinced the jury of the UC Berkeley Startup Competition (LAUNCH), who rewarded it with the Grand Prize (http://launch.berkeley.edu). The LAUCH competition is one of the foremost events for early-stage startups and provides entrepreneurs with the best possible resources to help turn innovative ideas into real businesses. Since 1999, LAUNCH has awarded more than USD 500’000. - in prizes to new startups, amongst others in the domains of biotech, cleantech, web, IT and financial services. This year, the winner of the Grand Prize has received USD 25’000. - in total.

ReMeeting, which is currently being incubated at IdeArk in Martigny, is a mobile meeting recorder and personal cloud service for reviewing and sharing in-person meetings. The technology was developed at the Idiap research institute mostly by David Imseng, native of the Haut-Valais and chief scientist of ReMeeting. Arlo Faria, CEO of ReMeeting, comments that the LAUNCH competition especially helped the team to acquire sales and marketing expertise, allowing them to discover huge opportunities to improve meetings using speech technology.

The Idiap research institute welcomes the success of ReMeeting, a startup initiated during the second edition of its International Create Challenge. This free of charge, 3-week immersive accelerator program, which each year reveals new talents and ideas full of potential, will take place for the third time from August 26 to September 16, 2014 at Idiap in Martigny. The application deadline has been extended for a week to May 5, 2014.
